DIRECTOR BIO

Dinh Thai is an Asian American award-winning writer/director by way of commercial directing. Born in Vietnam, fled to France, and finally settled in Los Angeles, the 80s and 90s nurtured a fascinating cultural mix that strongly informs Dinh’s filmic approach and aesthetic. He brings a youthful, multicultural viewpoint to his storytelling. His work blends visual style with realism, focusing on comedy and drama with strong musical influences.

After graduating from the film program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Dinh started working as a commercial director for various production companies. Over the years his style gradually transformed from a commercial storyteller to a commercial documentarian. Dinh has directed for clients like Adidas, Beachbody, Cadillac, Cellular South, Chevrolet, Pennzoil, T-Mobile, Toyota, U.S. Navy, and others.

Along with being an alumnus of the Disney TV Director Program, Ryan Murphy's Half-Initiative, and NBC’s Emerging Director Program, Dinh has gone onto direct TV episodes of Wu-Tang: An American Saga (Hulu), New Amsterdam (NBC), The Good Doctor (ABC), In The Dark (CBS), and American Born Chinese (Disney+). Currently, Dinh lives in the Los Angeles area.
